He also provides valuable support to private equity firms and client organizations in M&A due diligence and integration. As a Veteran of the United States Air Force, Bob consulted with command staff on a range of critical issues. In 2019, he co-founded Ascend Talent Strategies, Inc., driven by the belief that organizations investing wisely in their people will ultimately outlast, outmaneuver, and outperform their competition. Bob holds a B.A. in psychology from Hope College in Holland, Michigan and a Psy.D. in psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.

Project Phases

1. Understanding Current State and Team Dynamics Review
Review the current state of the Industrial team and establish the key demands or needs placed on the group. This will help to: · Boil down the factors that may be accelerators and derailers of the team. · Start to build a shared understanding of the current and aspirational state of the team, strategies for the development of leadership, and ways to align/support the future vision and objectives of the Industrial team.
2. Individual and Team-Level Analysis
This is a data collection and analysis phase. Ascend Talent Strategies, Inc. (ATS) will conduct one-on-one interviews with each leadership team member. The ATS team will handle the logistics and scheduling. Outline of the Process: · Participants will engage with a Leadership Assessment. · Each person will have two meetings (1 hour per meeting) to cover existing team dynamics and review assessment data to creat an individual Leadership Cheat Sheet. · During this phase, we will also roll up the team-level data to understand the team’s key operating strengths and areas for improvement. This will be discussed during the team workshops.
3. Team Building / Leadership Workshop
This phase is the action-oriented part of the process. Participants share individual goals and insights from their Leadership Cheat Sheets and solicit/respond to feedback. Through action learning, we define clear individual and team-level action steps for execution. Deliverable: Production of the workshop, Team Cheat Sheet, and Accountability Summarization Report.
4. Follow-Up and Making it Stick
This phase may have multi-meetings and hopes to ensure all the previous analysis and planning leads to sustainable action. We find that agile follow-through is critical to team and individual leadership behavioral change. Deliverables: · Full debriefing and check-in to see the application of learning (i.e., how we use our collective learnings) to “real life” scenarios tied back to Phase 1. · Subgroup execution of critical path initiatives for continued leadership (raising the bar on leadership and engagement).
